10 THINGS TO DO WITH A BUNDT PAN (BESIDES BAKE CAKE)
- No one wants to have a bunch of single-use cooking gadgets or novelties sitting around gathering dust. But when you need a bundt pan, other baking dishes generally won’t work as well. So what do you do? Find other ways to put the pan to work so it isn’t just collecting dust between cakes!
- Of course, if you are an avid cake baker, you might have collected lots of fancy bundt pans. You can even make a lovely pumpkin cake, grain-free maple cake, or fun snake cake with a regular bundt pan. But there are far more interesting ways to use your pan!
- Roast a chicken in it.
- Use it as a convenient “catcher” when removing corn from the cob.
- Plant something in it. (You probably don’t want to use your good baking pan for this. Probably better save this one for a thrift-store find.)
- If your pan is silicone, you can mold gelatin in it. (You might possibly be able to do this even with a traditional metal pan, but it would be tricky to unmold.)
- Use it as the container for a gift “basket.”
- Cook meatloaf in it.
- Float candles in it for a centerpiece. You can even put flowers in the center. (Alternatively, fill the pan with flowers or other decorative items, and nestle a votive holder in the center hole.)
- Freeze ice in it, with decorative flowers, berries, or citrus slices, to make a lovely ice wreath to float in a punch bowl.
- Serve chips and dip in it. (This will require that the center hole be large enough to nestle a small dip vessel into, or that you have a two-sided bowl or glass that will sit over the center post.)
- Invert the pan and use the center hole to form and bake a cone-shaped pastry crust.
